Hope and Change

Like many others of you, I am thrilled and relieved and proud and so, so happy with the results of this week's election. I was out with some mama-friends on Tuesday night, and watched some of the returns on CNN, and ended up sitting in my car in the driveway until nearly midnight in order to listen to Obama's acceptance speech, tears running down my face. I feel so lucky and proud that our country finally did something right in Washington!

I wish I'd thought to bring my camera to the polls on Tuesday, but instead I'll just have to tell them that they were both with me when I voted for the USA's first African-American president. It gives me hope that in their lifetime (hopefully in mine!) we'll have a female president, too. I've never felt so passionately about a political race before, and I hope that my enthusiasm for Obama is only increased as he begins his term. And with luck, he'll be the president until Nora's ten! (Not that I can imagine her as a ten-year-old - but I do know that at ten, she'll definitely be very aware of everything that's going on, and I want her to have leaders that she can believe in.)

Nora's been announcing to everyone that she wants "Rock-O-Mama" for president. She kind of thinks it's more of a title than a name, though, because she's also nominated "Rock-O-Daddy" and "Rock-O-Babchi" for the job. We're working on saying "President Obama" now!

p.s. More kiddo pictures coming soon. I promise!

p.p.s. Josie started walking on her birthday! She's such a big girl now! Someone asked me the other day about having two toddlers---how'd that happen?!?
